River Oaks Community
Clean-up Initiatives

Motto:  " Crush the Trash in ROCA"

Discussion:  Those of us who walk every morning have seen a decline in the ROCA's natural beauty from all the trash and graffiti that is beginning to litteer our community.  We therefore, with the aid and support from LeRoy F Greene Mid School, City Graffiti department, and Councilman Tretheway's office have set in play on-going anti-trash and anti-graffiti campaigns to show those who desire to trash our neighborhoods that it just will not be tolerated.

Two Initiatives have begun:

Anti Graffiti Days:

  1. Crush Graffiti Day:  Every day is a good day to stop graffiti!  We are continually monitoring graffiti in our community.  Past initiatives have been very successful and we have caught the handful of adolescents who have been marking up our parks and street signs and ploes.     All materials have been and will continue to be supplied.  A commemorative shirt, supplied by the Department of General Services will be given to the participants of our next focused effort or event.  Stay tuned to ROCA's home page for announcements.

  2. If interested in this project, please contact Bill Quaglia at 220-1441.  Please lend a hand.

  3. Next cleanup will be at Two Rivers Elementary on Sept 6th, 2008

Crush the Trash day:

  1. In conjunction with CM Tretheway's office Parks and Rec and RD1000, we will have a bike path and Canal clean-up day. Individuals on foot and on bikes will tour the bike paths and pick up all the small trash lining the paths.  More to come on this.

  2. Other individuals will assist in helping to extract derbies from the canal.  actual details must still be worked out to insure that working along the canal in conducted with utmost safety.
